The SWL QSL Museum Uzbekistan Asia "Bye, Bye Sitkūnai" Program via Tashkent - 2017 - 9875 Khz - Station Overview QSL Contributed by Hashimoto Kenji (Japan) "Bye Bye Sitkunai" was a special shortwave radio documentary broadcast in April 2017.  Produced by Christian Milling,  it commemorated the history and partial shutdown of the historic Sitkunai Radio Station in Lithuania. While global relay transmissions reached various regions via WRMI and other international facilities, related DX logs from that era also noted simultaneous relay tests and programs (such as Radio Mi Amigo or Wavescan via Adventist World Radio) transmitting out of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Sitkunai Radio Station  is a major historic radio and shortwave/medium-wave transmission center located 17 kilometers north of Kaunas, Lithuania. Opened in the 1950s and operated by Telecentras, it famously served  as the vital free voice broadcasting Lithuania's independence to the world during the Soviet January Events in 1991.
